Project Overview
Context
Many people avoid engaging with their finances, not because they lack tools, but because of confusion, overwhelm, and emotional barriers.
Existing financial apps focus on tracking and optimisation, but fail to help users take action.
My Role
Designing an AI-powered conversational system to help users understand and act on their financial situation.
Conducting research into psychological barriers to financial action (avoidance, shame, cognitive overload)
Designing conversational flows that guide users from confusion to clear next steps
Applying behavioural design principles to reduce friction and increase engagement
Prototyping and testing interaction patterns using real scenarios
Exploring how AI can personalise guidance without overwhelming users
Key Highlights
Impact (early stage)
Developed a working prototype of a conversational financial guidance system
Identified key behavioural patterns that block financial action
Validated early interaction concepts through user testing
Why this matters
Financial tools don’t fail because of missing features — they fail because people don’t engage.
This work explores how AI and behavioural design can move users from avoidance to action.
